Wellness and Relaxation
Area or Injury Specific
Prenatal and Postpartum
Wellness sessions begin with the set intention of relaxation and restoration. They offer the time and space to slow down, breathe, and find holistic, deep connection with your body. Ideal for first time clients and always client attuned and led, wellness sessions offer the choice be beautifully simple or to dive deeper if so called.
Area and Injury Specific sessions are for tending known and bothersome aches and pains. Old or recent injuries, repetitive daily motions, improper posture and movement, disruptive sleep, chronic pain, and stress are all common factors. We'll work together to collaboratively identify your discomfort's source while listening to your body's needs.
A wonderful experience for any stage in pregnancy, prenatal sessions focus on rest and relaxation, connecting with your body and baby, emotionally preparing for birth, and reducing pregnancy associated discomfort such as low-back pain, muscle and joint aches, swelling, and fatigue.
Postpartum sessions are gentle can be performed as soon as your body is ready after giving birth, with the focus on relaxation, fluid and swelling reduction, and tension release.
Your partner and baby are welcome to join us in the room!
Modalities and Techniques
Swedish
When you hear the word massage, there's a good chance that what comes to mind is what we call a Swedish massage.
Swedish massage is one of the most common modalities, and involves long, flowing strokes and motions like kneading, vibration, tapping, and rolling to loosen tight muscles. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction caused by rubbing.
Myofascial Release
Fascia is a dense connective tissue that runs throughout our entire bodies. Fascia is found superficially (near the surface of the skin) as well as deep (embedded between muscle fibers.)
Injury and chronic stress lead to tightening and restriction of fascia, giving way for tight and shortened muscle fibers, stored and blocked emotions, reduced mobility, tender trigger points, and postural imbalances.
Myofascial release (myo=muscle) is a slow and steady technique that "melts" the fascia, allowing for more movement of the tissues and deep access of the muscle fibers. Myofascial release can be gentle or intense, and is highly productive for area specific and injury treatment sessions.
Trigger Point Therapy
A trigger point is a hyper-irritable, tender spot within a taut band of skeletal muscle that produces localized pain and, often, referred pain to other areas of the body. Known as muscle "knots," these spots can restrict movement and are often caused by acute trauma, repetitive strain, or chronic stress. A trigger point release, often following some time dedicated to myofascial release, is performed by holding sustained pressure to a single point. Trigger points can present as localized discomfort or may radiate to other structures of the body. Trigger point release often feels initially intense, with quick and powerful relief following shortly. Many clients report some amount of immediate improvement following the release of their trigger points.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique focusing on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue using slow, firm, and sustained pressure. It is specifically used for relieving chronic pain, muscle tension, knots, and injury rehabilitation. Techniques often include myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and cross-fiber friction, frequently employing elbows and forearms to reach deep tissue layers.
